#22 - Tag you're it

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is "tag you're it" - use a tag on your project somewhere...I had this tag in some left over kit supplies and so is the end of this doily...the cupcakes are the end of a package of puffies that I bought ages ago (and still wish I had bought the whole rack of them because they are fur)...the papers are scraps...Play along, won't you?

#21 - at the movies

This week's challenge at the Opus Gluei is "at the movies" - making a project inspired by a movie...I have had this Marilyn stamp for quite a while now and not had an opportunity to use it...but I thought it was so cute that I had to get it anyway, so today was the perfect opportunity to dip her in some ink!

#20 - celebrate

this week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use your oldest paper....my craft room is inundated with paper...probably 10,000 sheets of an assortment and array of thicknesses and colours and textures and sizes....there is soo much there...I am trying really hard to plow through some of that while not buying new stuff (doesn't always go so well, but I am trying ;)...my favorite old paper is definitely the Chatterbox brand of paper...there is just something about the colours and thickness that I llooovvvee beyond any other paper company...I have hoarded this paper and used it sparingly over the years, so I felt this was the perfect challenge to crack out a new page, when, lo and behold, I found enough SCRAPS to do this card...didn't even have to sacrifice any new papers in this project (the best kind ;)...so pull out those oldies and show us what you've got!

#19 - very superstitious

This weeks challenge at Anything But a Card is to do something superstitious, with the number 13, to do with gambling, luck etc or 13 embellishments.....after a long week of trying, unsuccessfully, to buy a new house (the address was 132, we put our offer in on 13 2 13) and tried to close on Valentine's day to no success, what could be more appropriate than a superstition challenge??? Thought I would try something with a positive result - our winning race at the local racetrack ( we won a whopping $8 on our $2 bet - my girls were jumping for joy)....hoping that good mojo work for us when we try again next week to buy the same house!!! Needing all the good karma I can get, cuz this house is fabulous!
I used the Sketch from Artful Delight for their monthly challenge....it made this page come together so quickly!  I love sketches!

#18 - Happy Birthday

This week the challenge at Shopping our Stash is to make a birthday card...easy peasy bellafeasy...my favvorite kind of card to make by far...I could do them always and never run out of ideas when it comes to them.  This card is made with all kinds of stash...old dollar store flowers, a plastic button that came in an exchange, a puffy cupcake that was the last in a set....the only thing new on this card is the happy day stamp and punch cuz I just had to try it out!

#17 - Thank you

This week's challenge at the Opus Gluei is to make a card that is to be donated to a charity or somewhere similiar.  This was easy for me because I donate a stack of cards every year to my work fundraisers for the United Way and our local Children's hospital.  There are usually 10 or so in a pack and they get raffled off in the dime parade.  This is one that will be in one of the packages (I usually do around 3 packages to raffle off - around 30 assorted cards by the end of each year).  This one is bright and cheery and I have been super addicted to baker's twine lately...the buttons were leftovers from another project that I made a long while back....join in for a challenge that also had a pay it forward cause to it, won't you?

#16 - Happy birhday

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use your oldest bling....I am a bling hoader...especially big swoopy bling...I love it, I buy it and I can't bring myself to actually use it because it is expensive...especially on a card!  But not today...I picked out my biggest swoopiest oldest flourish and sacrificed it...I totally stole the design for this card from a picture in PaperCrafts magazine and tweaked it a little to use up scrap papers and stickers...I filled in the centres of some of the flowers too...just to make it a bit blingier.....

#12 - valentine's page

The challenge this week at Anything but A Card is to do something to do with love, valentines, anniversary, red, hearts etc....We had this picture taken on our cruise to Alaska last summer and I thought it would be a good idea to get the page finished with this challenge...we are not the mushy gushy hearts and lovey kind of people...but I had this kit that had some heartish paper in it and all valentinesy type embellies and my goal this year is to finish off all the kit bits I have purchased, so I dove in and did a mushy gushy page...loving all the gems and pins and stuff though...that part is fun...so why not crack out your supplies and join us this week?

#15 - more sympathy cards

I made these cards following the Sketch from Artful Delight for this month.  Love their sketches!

a clean and simple sketch for some quick cards...using up some of my old bling....

#13 & #14- sympathy cards

I found myself needing an abundance of sympathy cards this week, as my auntie passed away.  She has 5 kids and 4 brothers and sisters, so there is a great need for the sympathy card production line.  These are the first two I came up with.  I used my Tim Holtz markers to do the image and stamped it three times on each card.  The little scallop is a dragonfly (kind of hard to see in the picture).
This is the second set that I got done this morning:

#11 -Valentine

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use red or hearts or valentines etc...this idea worked so well in my head, but when it hit the paper it was a whammie...not liking it at all....oh well...at least it uses up some hearts I have had for years and the end of my last kit (yeah...now I can start the next one...this is a hard commitment for me)....I get bored too easily with one type of paper....play along with us, won't you?

#10 bling is the thing

BRRR...it has been so cold here this week....hope my peeps in the freezing lands are keeping warm....a few days last week that were in the -43C range with the windchill...a band concert in -33C actual temperature and ski trip meeting in the same...nice to stay home and craft a bit in the warmth of the house this weekend....anyway....This week's challenge at the Opus Gluei should really brighten your day in one way or another....it is all about the bling....use twinkly shiny blingy things on your projects...this is what I came up with...so much bling this card barely stands up....love using up some of my hoards of bling....what can you come up with this week?

#9 Butterfly ribbon

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use your oldest ribbons...I am not sure if these ones are my oldest, but they are sure in the running...I got them at least 5 or 6 years ago in a huge package from Costco...there were 48 kinds of ribbon in it and I had to have it...why?  I will never know...I truly didn't even like half of the ones included in there, but my need to possess took over and into my collection they went...unused...until today...I stuck 9 strips to a piece of cardstock and ran them through the big shot with my border die...easy right???  Not so....it turns out they are way to thick for a border die so I had to cut around the whole outline with an exacto knife....and the butterfly was a nasty experience as well, but the outcome is nice....and then to top off a 10th, I used a pretty white one to tie it all together...all of the papers and letters are the remainder from a kit I bought and am trying to use up...

#8 Ribbon and fibres

This week's challenge at Anything But a Card is to use ribbons, twine, fibres etc...I use lots on this page but they kind of blend in...there is some grey pleats on the left next to some white chain cord...on the top there is some yellow ribbon embroidered with grey floss...on the right there is some shiny grey ribbon under the letters and at the bottom there is some fuzzy ric rac and yellow with white bakers twine...there is also some tulle under the pins and the flowers...I used the sketch from Artful Delight this month to do this page.  Hope you like it and play along....the supplies are all from a kit at my LSS that I had left over after using the ones I really liked...Not too fond of this line, but my goal is to use up the old before starting the new...and not to have any leftovers behind, so it forced me to play with it and think outside the box...I like the results though!

#6 Suits me to a "T"

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is "suits me to a "T"- using at least two things that start with the letter "T"...it can be products or images etc...
This was a fun challenge, but I didn't think the letter "T" could stump me so easily....who'da thunk it? Maybe it was just the blizzard we were having on Friday night (or not quite a blizzard for the technicality junkies out there - missed blizzard status by 9 minutes according to environment Canada) that stumped me....oh well...here are my "T"s - three tiny teal birds teetering on a tightrope tweeting thanks....hope that cuts it... ;) going to dig my way out of my driveway now...just two three foot snowbanks to get through!  Hope you are all keeping warm and playing along inside!  p.s. - this whole entire card is made of scraps... yippee!

**special thanks to our awesome neighbours who used the snow blower on our driveway yesterday!  No shovelling needed now!  Wahoozle!**

#5 pretty in pink

This week's challenge over at the Opus Gluei is to use predominantly pink on your projects...wahooo! I love working with pink..it is one of my favorites and a go to colour for me (good thing I have two little girls, so pink is acceptable in most crafting projects)...I am trying this year (again) to use up many of my older supplies and kits that I have...my goal is to finish up one whole kit before moving on to other projects, so all of the pieces of this card are from a kit I got back in October (that is almost done)....

#7 - birds of a feather

JANUARY CARD SKETCH CHALLENGE ASC #27
This is my interpretation of the sketch from Artful Delight...I love this blog and the kits they make up are just amazing...hoping I can fit some of them into my budget this year because when you see them, the ideas just start flowing...their design team is fabulous too...I don't play nearly as often as I would like to with them, but I did get a card done today (we are sort of snowed in, but not totally....just enough to stay inside in pjs for most of the day)...hoping it is close enough to the sketch to qualify for their challenge this month!

you know you are Canadian when....

you know you are Canadian when....you have to stop for slurpees on the way home in a raging blizzard....bbbrrrrr....keep warm my Canadian peeps!!!  Hoping tomorrow will be a snow day!

#4 - with sympathy

I whipped up some quick sympathy cards based on a card from the Stampin up catalogue as my hubby needed one for someone at work...thought I would do a couple cuz you just never know when you are going to need on of those kinds of cards (and I don't like making sympathy cards)...they just can't be fun and sassy....but I like the way these ones turned out.

#3 - Button button

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use buttons on your project.  I am pleased to say that everything on this card is from the scrap pile in my newly cleaned scraproom (my annual clean out is complete....yippee)....even the buttons were from a package that I had used most of...now there are no more tealy coloured ones :( ...play along with us this week, won't you???
