2011 365 #017 - winner winner chicken dinner

Winner winner chicken dinner...that is one of our favorite phrases around here...especially on Friday nights watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.....so when this challenge came out at the Opus Gluei: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/...I had to jump at it...I figured I would start the entries with a get well card, cuz everyone in this neck of the woods seems to have some sort of flu or infection. The sad part about this challenge is that I have so many different kinds of chicken stamps, I don't know which ones to use...lame, I know....and I hate birds, so I have no idea why I have so many of them, but there will be more than one entry from me in this challenge...plus, starting to get some more energy back from the flu...now if only I could get enough to take down the Christmas tree...ahhh, maybe next week ;)

snow, snow, snow

so much snow there is no where left for it to go! What a day we had today...I don't know if you can tell, but our whole back yard is about 4 feet deep right now...wow is there ever a lot of snow...it came down for about 4 hours straight like the picture on the right and then like someone turned off a switch it just stopped...instantly....strange weather...the snow comes up to the girls's shoulders and they can't wait to get out into it right now before the 70 km/hr winds pick up tonight....and then the temperature is supposed to drop to -20 C for the daytime high tomorrow....brrr...enjoy girls before we have indoor recess all weekend!

sick sick sick

We are all so sick here in the 'peg...supposedly we have the H3N2...not doing this ever again...we are all going for the flu shot next year no matter what...girls and hubby have it too, but not as bad...no blogging or paper crafts (or work for that fact) for more than a week....bites big time....but, here's to becoming healthy again! Can't wait to get back into everything...plus doing some laundry...well, okay, that can wait a little bit longer...

2011 365 #016 - more sympathy

okay, so I said I was done with the sympathy cards for Stonewall, but I changed my mind...I am allowed to do that you know!...my other three were all in the same colours and papers, so I thought I would switch it up a little. I used the sketch from Card Patterns : http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/ ...I really liked this sketch and think I will be using it a lot more....simple but pretty and I think a birthday card may be calling my name with a giant cupcake on it, non? In real life, the flowers that were stamped and the one on the side are more of the same colours...but they look quite different in the picture...oh well....daylight here is almost gone...it is 4:30 after all....and coooollllldddd and cloudy...witner at it's best...great day for cardmaking...especially with two girls with full out fevers vegging in the livingroom in front of the t.v. and a husband studying his brains out for promotions...peace and quiet all around...

2011 365 #015 - plumber bummer

I made this card for my hubby's best friends' son...he just got his plumbing ticket and is having a little get together this evening. I am entering it in the following challenge:

2011 365 #014 - thank you

This card is being done with the scraps from my bucket and being entered into the Opus Gluei tropical challenge here: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/
same scraps as the next post, but a completely different look....and even using up all the old rubons (which don't work nearly as well when they get old....another reason for me to use my supplies instead of waiting till the perfect project!)
going along at a good pace to make it to 1000 items this year...wahoo!

2011 365 # 013 - smile card

I made this card cuz she is just so bright and cheery...and they say we are supposed to get another ten centimetres of snow tonight and then it is supposed to get down right cold and nasty. The challenge at the Opus Gluei is tropical so I thought I would enter her there. You can find them here: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/
Res-q challenge is back and they have a bright colours challenge: http://resqchallenge.blogspot.com/
Thanks for looking...p.s. this was done out of the scrap box under my table...I think I am becoming addicted to coming up with cards made of scraps...sooo much fun to do...

2011 365 #012 - thanks a lot

I made this card with the scraps from my grandpa page...also with the sketch from Sketches in Thyme. You can find them here: http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.com/
I thought it turned out okay...the butterfly and sentiment are rubons that I tried colouring with my copic markers...turns out copics don't like colouring over the waxy residue around the rubon - oh well, live and learn...but because it didn't cover too nice with the markers, my daughter says it looks like stained glass...so I guess I discovered a new technique by accident. Thanks for looking.

WOYWW

Soooo...not as clean this week...knew it wouldn't last, but I am deciding to clean up after myself today no matter what, so it should be as good as new year's soon (hopefully)...been busy this week...did a few cards, 2 scrapbook pages and some other little goodies...the 365 challenge is going full swing and my goal this year is to make 1000 things from paper...hopefully that is not to big for my britches...stay tuned to see how this all goes down.

2011 365 #011 - grandpa's girls

I did this page with the sketch from Sketches in Thyme. You can find them here: http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.com/ ...hopefully got it in on time...the link was still open and it said I had 5 minutes left...yikes, nothing like cutting it close, but I was not happy with any oval type thing that I put on the picture...so brackets it is....it looks pastelish in the picture, but not it real life...it is kind of bold coloured in true life...and the colours of the letters is the same as the colour of the paper in real life too...oh well...that is the kind of picture you get for rushing...

2011 365 #010 - sympathy card

This is the last sympathy card that I will make for the Scrap Yard challenge...got all three cards done andit is only the 10th...yay me! In the clear till next month! I used the sketch from Twisted Sketches- you can find them here: http://www.twistedsketches.com/ - the twist is to use ribbon any way any how....so I used my nice thick ribbon with a ribbon slide and it is a done deal....

2011 365 #009 - flower sympathy

I decided to do the Scrap Yard card making challenge after all...thanks Rose and Lorie for convincing me....the first set of cards are sympathy cards. This is one of the cards that I made to submit (using all scraps)...I colored the flowers with my copic markers on satin paper...it is much brighter in the picture (I like it better in the picture), but the colours are way more subtle in real life. Thanks for looking.
I am entering this one in the Basic Gray spots and dots challenge: http://basicgreychallenges.blogspot.com/

2011 365 #008 - celebrate again

here is the last card from my scraps...I stickled the people and the balloon on this one for a little bit of a different effect...another quick and easy to give away birthday card...need sooo many more, so I guess I will be busy for a while.
I am entering it in the following challenge:
Let's Ink it up: anything goes: http://www.letsinkitup.blogspot.com/

2011 365 #007 - celebrate

made this card from the scraps as well...coloured the people in with the copic markers and rolled up the side paper for a little pizazz...nothing super spectacular, but I am almost out of generic birthday cards, so I decided to bump up my stash with some extra cards.
I am entering it in the following challenge:
Creative Craft World: anything goes: http://creativecraftworld.blogspot.com/

2011 365 #006 - beautiful flower card

I made this card with the scraps from my scrapbook page (previous post). I had an extra rosette and couldn't let it go to waste. It's kind of tacky, but fun all the same.

2011 365 #005 - ice cream social

it has been a long time since I have done any actual "scrapbooking", so I decided to get some pictures printed and get my butt in gear. I did this page with the left side a sketch from Twisted Sketches #83. You can find them here: http://www.twistedsketches.com/.
The right side of the page, I did with a sketch from Page Maps. You can find them here: http://www.pagemaps.com/.
I used my new Tim Holtz rosette die to make all the rosettes...wow are they easy with that thing...too bad it only makes one size, but what can you do? I also used 3 stamp sets on my pages...another three bite the dust...at this rate, I may actually use one stamp from all of my sets this year...not likely though...
The ice cream social was a hugely fun idea...I am so glad we did it and we will totally be doing another one...this one had no pre planning...we decided on Sunday of the long weekend that we would do it when we saw the forecast for Monday. It had been an extermely cold week and all of the kids showed up at the house with super warm sweaters and magic mittens...that sucked for September weather, but I think the ice cream gods were looking over us, because the temperature in the back yard got up to about a "tropical" 17 c that day and the forecast was only for 12 c. The sweaters came off and the kids went bonkers over all of the mini ice creams that we made the night before...and the self-serve sundae bar with every topping imagineable (plus more cuz we had made a quick trip to the States and picked up all kind of treats a couple of weeks earlier) was a huge hit. Got the ideas of the little ice creams from one of the restaurants that we ate at in Las Vegas (that page is to follow sometime soon)...sooo much fun on the last day off for the summer....school started the next day and all of the kids got to reunite with each other from all of their vacations and going to the lakes etc...which totally took away the first day jitters for them too..
I am going to enter this in the Opus Gluei Challenge as well. Their theme this week is tropical and if those aren't tropical colours, I don't know what are. You can find them here: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/

2011 365 #004 - wedding card

here is another quick card made from the rest of the scraps....boy, a couple of pieces of paper sure do go along way! I am entering it in the following challenges:

2011 365 #003 - sympathy card

I am entering this card in the following sketch challenge:http://cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com/
I am also contemplating joing the card of the month club at the ScrapYard. This month's set is for sympathy cards and this is what I came up with so far...on the fence about the club at this point...not sure if I want to commit or not cuz we have to make 1-3 cards per month and get them back out to Stonewall before the month end deadline....not sure I have time for that trek each month, but I just might give it a shot anyway....cuz I just love a challenge....these cards also used up some more of the scrap from my wedding cards, which is great cuz I am trying hard not to have any scraps left when I am done my projects this year...using everything up!

2011 365 #002 - Brad and Sheri's vow holders

I made these holders for Brad and Sheri to do their vows and their speeches at their upcoming wedding. She asked for something a "bit prettier than a piece of printer paper". I hope they will like these. The wedding colours are purple and white. It is hard to tell from the pictures, but the paper is a deep plum co'ordinations. The hearts are a lighter purple with the micro fine glitter and double sided glue cut out on the cricut (yes, I actually pulled out my Cricut), but the picture doesn't do them justice. The vows and speeches are printed on satin paper that looks like a wedding dress material. What do you all think of them?
I am entering them in the Opus Gluei "new" challenge for their new life together: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/

2011 365 #001 - Wedding Card for Brad and Sheri

I made this card in my clean room :)...and I cleaned up after...that is a first for sure....made a couple of extras just in case...always like to have a few on hand for emergencies and my stock pile is quite low...I took a pic of the inside too cuz i just like that phrase...I also used three stamp sets...yippee...off to a good start this year! I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Opus Gluei - something new...I suppose a wedding and new life together would qualify:http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/
Basic Gray Challenges: spots or dots: http://basicgreychallenges.blogspot.com/
thanks for looking and please join in the 365 challenge...no rules, just fun...check out the new year's day post for details...the more participants, the more ideas and connections!

New look for my crafting area - CLEAN

It's Actually Clean, I Say, Clean!!!!!!
I am posting this one at WOYWW http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ as it has never looked like this before!...it still is the same and it has been almost a week and I made three cards...what is wrong with me?
getting ready for a new year of project 365, I took the last 2 days to clean out my space...it has been gathering stuff for years, from all areas of the house. That room is the loading zone when gifts come in the house, it is the spare bed room for guests, the wrapping area, the storage area, the craft space galore...it usually has the door closed...not today though! A new year, a new looking room and lots of space to get some things done...already a couple of days behind on the 365, but since there are no rules (and I easily finished last year), I am not going to worry...just beam a little on the accomplishment of this room...should have taken some before pics...but it was ugly iykwim?
There are wall to wall closets in that room too, but I am not quite ready to take pictures of those...they are organized, but super full.....once I use up some of that stuff, I will be happy to take you on a tour....but two days was enough.
Please feel free to join in the project...see previous post...it's lots of fun!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! Being the start of a new year, it is the start of a new 365 Challenge - no rules, just challenging yourself to use up some of your supplies that are taking over your crafting areas (well, at least taking over mine)...If you would like to join in, let me know in the comment area and I will hook your blog up on the side of mine...any friends are welcome to join in too...the more in, the more fun....try to do 365 completed projects in 2011...last year I finished over 600....I never thought it would be possible, but it was a lot of fun...anything goes cuz you make your own rules...it could be layouts, cards, something on the wall....even a flower, if you made it counts...it is just a challenge to try to use your old punches, stamps, machines and paper (or your new punches, stamps, machines and paper :) if you know what I mean - boxing week sales were great).
