2011 365 #052 - have a wonderful day

I made this card for the following challenges. Not sure if I am loving it or not, cuz it is totally not my style...too much white space for me. The flowers are cut up patch material (that was sitting on my work table this morning for no apparent reason) that I bought years ago to fix Emily's first little pair of Old Navy Cargo pants. She was sooo excited to get these "big girl" pants (she was just about 3 at the time and now she is going to be having her 10th birthday...how time flies) that she went running into the yard to show my husband how they fit, tripped on a piece of the sidewalk and did a face plant, ripping her pants straight through both knees and bleeding all over the place....they didn't even last 2 minutes...she was way more upset about the pants than the bleeding lip, chin, hands and knees. It took me 2 weeks to find the perfect material to fix them....this stuff matched the flower pattern embroidered up the sides of the pants and was a perfect colour match for most of the clothes she had at the time...she wore those pants right up until she was 7 years old, when they were retired from being pants, capris and then cargo shorts...well worth the effort...did I mention that the pants started out on a clearance sale for $2.00...best two bucks ever spent (the material to patch them cost $4.99)...anyway, I am entering this memory flashback card into the following challenges:

2011 365 #051- spring has sprung

spring has sprung in some parts of the world...here it is just starting to melt, so I guess spring is on the way on it's own time...but there are some great spring challenges out there. I received this umbrella emma from a prize pack that I won and just had to use it...same with the fence...I masked her and did the double stamp so that it looks like one stamp...my girls thought she was cute....I coloured her with my watercolour pencils and crayons...after using the copic markers so much, I thought I might try to go back to my original colouring roots and give them a shot...do like the copic markers sooooo much more....glad I did the investment on those babies! I even pulled out my chalks...yikes...I cut the heart out and covered it in flock for a different look...just experimenting.....I got this paper yesterday in Stonewall at the Scrapyard...she was blowing it out at half price and I couldn't resist a couple of sheets...such pretty colours in it.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Opus gluei (cuz they are my favorite...) spring in paris...this is what i think it may be like there right now...unlike our snowbanks that are all dirty and gross: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/2011/03/challenge-95-springtime-in-paris.html
Have a great day!

2011 365 #50 - cookie emma

I just received this Cookie Emma as a prize from a contest...she is soo cute so I just had to use her...I am entering this card in a ton of challenges...the paper is SEI and it is teal and sparkly in real life...it almost looks grey in the pictures, but in reality it is the same colour as her pants...i guess the shimmer gets lost in the photo??? The frame is brown and fuzzy, but looks black in the picture too...
I am entering this card in the following challenges:

2011 365 #049 - Birthday card

I made this card for one of my daughter's friends...the requirement was that it had to have orange cuz that is her favorite colour...some of the bits and pieces were made in some of my unfinished projects, so I thought I would use up some of those supplies as well...even though the cards were not made as intended, I like the way this one turned out. I am entering it in the following challenges:

2011 365 #048 - little leprechauns

I whipped up these little magnets tonight cuz I thought the image was sooo darn cute. It is off of the Simply Charmed cricut cartridge. I did them at 2 3/4 size so they are quite large...then slapped a magnet on the back of each of them and voila...perfect little desk leprechauns to liven the work place up a little....I made 18 of them in all...too much fun with that cartridge...it's becoming addictive....

2011 365 #47 - kit cards

Thank goodness I keep a messy desk and never put away after myself when I craft (I even took a picture before I started to prove what was already there...however, there was tonnes more in the layers underneath to play with as well)! The Opus Gluei challenge this week is to use the stuff off of your desk to make a project. I whipped up 5 cards from nothing but stuff currently on my desk...probably could do 10 more, but I like pulling out my new supplies for the next project, so I ended it at 5...you can join in here if you want to play along: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/

Gotta love the weather here!

This is from the weather network today...nothing like getting every single possible weather condition in a 24-hour period...mmmm looks like some good crafting weather?

A pair of low pressure systems..One in Saskatchewan and one in Montana..Will bring a wide variety of weather to much of southern and Central Manitoba today through tonight. As of early this morning, radar indicates an intensifying area of precipitation moving from Eastern Montana into Southern Manitoba. With a warm front now over Southwest Manitoba pushing in warmer air aloft..Freezing rain is a distinct possibility for many areas of Southern Manitoba this morning. Temperatures are expected to climb just above the freezing mark over most areas this afternoon. However a cold front is forecast to move through Southern Manitoba this afternoon through this evening. General snowfall amounts of 5-10 cm can be expected as this system moves through the area..With up to 15 cm expected east of Lake Winnipeg. The main impact of this system is likely to be felt in the Red River Valley including the City of Winnipeg..Where northwest winds of 50 gusting 80 km/h are expected tonight. This in combination with the fresh snowfall should result in blizzard conditions..With near-zero visibility in snow and blowing snow..Over the Red River Valley including the City of Winnipeg beginning this evening and continuing for much of the night. Temperatures are expected to plummet tonight from a relatively balmy +1 late this afternoon to -18 by Saturday morning..With wind chill values dropping back to the minus thirties. Conditions are expected to improve by Saturday morning, although temperatures will remain well below normal.

2011 365 #045 - Take care of yourself

This is one of my Lili of the Valley stamps that arrived yesterday (I bought myself (I mean my husband bought me) for Valentine's Day...I got 5 of them and they are all super cute...too bad I can't buy them in Canada though. I am entering this card in the monthly card challenge at our local scrapbook store in Stonewall. I am also entering it in the following challenges:

2011 365 #044 - spring is here

So I was absolutely elated when I went to the mailbox on my way home from work and saw my prize from the wonderful Opus Gluei gals waiting for me. I couldn't wait to get home and open it (neither could my oldest daughter who ripped that packing tape off as fast as her little fingers could move)! Inside were some super fun items to play with...some stamps, glitter, a dazzle ink pad (which I have wanted to try for sooo long, but couldn't bring myself to pay Michael's prices for) and a really pretty smelling lip balm (which with all this super cold weather was probably more exciting to my chapped lips than the stamps were to my super excited brain!)
I couldn't wait to make something with it all, so I whipped up this card with one of the stamps from the set. I am going to enter it in the Opus Gluei challenge (show us some "New" tricks) because I think it qualifies on many levels: new stamps - the image is covered in the new dazzle ink (but you can't tell by this picture too much) and a new card technique. You can find it here: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/ . I have never done a diamond card before, but I stumbled across the instructions here: http://www.making-birthday-cards.com/diamond-fold-card.html - it is super simple and I was already using up my scraps from another card...worked out perfectly in all aspects!
So much fun when there is new stuff to play with! Thank you Jana and Rosemary!

2011 365 #040 - magical day

I did this card using the sketch from Card Patterns #104: http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/. I have had these Tim Holtz plastic things for a while and thought what better time to use them than now? What am I holding on to them for? I used one of the many (or should I say MANY??) Bella stamps that I bought at the Scrapyard Garage sale a couple of weekends ago. I colored her in with the copics and stuck her to the plastic pieces with some crystal effects glue stuff.
I am also entering it in the Crafty Creations Challenge blog: feminine birthday with green and blue: http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

WOYWW 91

Okay, so this isn't soo much my workspace...more of a holding zone, but it is so neat and organized right now, that I just had to show it off before it starts to look like the rest of my room. My hubby got me this cabinet a few years ago for Valentine's day, and it my most favorite piece of furniture in the house...so many little spaces for pretty things....I keep my copics on top in the spinny container from Michael's crafts...and some of my completed cards are in the boxes on the side and on display. My daughter helped me sort out all my brand type paper and used the labeller to organize it for me. All of the drawers have the little dishes in them to keep the brads, eyelets etc separated...just love this baby. My inks, some tool, etc. are in the bigger bottom drawers...and now that I finally got the Christmas tree down, I should not be feeling guilty hiding out making some cards and pages...yippee...for more desks, follow this link: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ ...thanks for looking!
