2012 365 #38 - a girl should be fabulous

a friend at work asked me to make a purple birthday card for one of her family members and this is the one I think she will choose, but I made other two (the two previous posts) for her to be able to make a decision...followed the sketch from CPS card sketches for day 3 of their celebration.

2012 365 #37 - celebrate

this is my second card for the CPS card sketch anniversary celebration....

2012 365 #36 - which witch are you??

here is a quick birthday card I threw together with one of the anniversary sketches from CPS Card Sketches...I love their sketches and hope to play along through the whole celebration...

2012 365 #33 - people who need people

this week's challenge over at Shopping our Stash is people who need people...I had to use Gus cuz he is one of my favorites...come on out and join us this week for some fun and show us what you can do...everything in this project was stash over 5 years old...except the image....thanks for looking.

2012 365 #34 - birds of a feather flock together

this week's challenge set up by the Poohbahs at the Opus Gluei is birds, birdcages and birdhouses...I do not like birds, but I had this pretty paper hiding in my room for a while, so as soon as I read the challenge I knew that I wanted to use it up...I made the metal accents myself with the cuttlebug  and some alcohol ink...so cool...the metal was scrap that came off of some magnets...loved doing this technique...also debossed the little copper circles...come on out and join in with us this week, will ya?

2012 365 #35 - fabulous birthday

I whipped up this card using the scraps from my last few cards...I truly am liking using up all my pieces instead of storing them and never going back to the scrap pile...it is really amazing how many cards you can get out of 3 double sided papers...I tried to do a masculine birthday card, but even with the boy colours and the lack of girly embellishments, I don't know if I could pass this one off as a masculine card...it still looks girly to me...I have such a hard time with boy cards...I followed the sketch from Card Patterns this week...might have to use this sketch again...it was a good one...

2012 365 #32 happy birthday Katrina

my daughter's peep is turning 13 this week...happy birthday Katrina...she is the first of the wave of 13 year olds in our lives...Lauren will be the last of her friends in her grade to turn 13...but what can you do?  December birthdays bite...oh well...they are off partying tonight and hopefully having a great time!
I am going to enter it in the Card Crafter's Circle this week- their challenge is to create something cheery for a friend and I just don't know what is more cheery than cupcakes and flowers for your birthday...

2012 365 #31 princess card

I made this princess card as a request from a friend for a little girlie birthday card...I got the stamp for $1 a few years ago and have never used it...why, I am not sure???  It stamped really nice and was quite fun to colour in...might have to do a few more with it in the near future...everything used is from my stash and was purchased ages ago...I am entering it in the card makin mamas use something old challenge.

2012 365 #30 - cupcake magnets

I made these cute little cupcake magnets for my friend's daughter's birthday party...I tried to make the icing on the cupcakes look like it was airbrushed at the bakery with sprinkles on top...I finished 16 of them and thought they looked super cute...

2012 365 #29 - princess card

I made this card for the Tuesday morning sketches challenge...not in any way my favorite card, but it will do...all items in this card are from old stash that is getting used up...yippee

2012 365 #25 - Beat the winter blues SOS

This weeks' challenge over at Shopping our Stash is beat the winter blues...other than this past week, our winter has been gorgeous, so not too many blues around here, but I did have an opportunity to use this stamp with the challenge...perfect!  I misted the butterfly in a few different hues of blue, but it is kind of hard to tell in the picture...it is also shimmery and mounted in a 3-d ish way with pop dots...the ink and paper are blue as well, and all is stash!  Why not beat your blues and come on out and play with us this week too?

2012 365 #28 - Dolphin feeding

this is my attempt at the sketch from Sketches in Thyme #67...the sea shells are no longer falling off, so just ignore that part :)  I bought that sea shell ric rac about 15 years ago and have finally used it all up...I think that produclt alone is what hooked me on scrapbooking...but I discovered a new favorite technique doing this page....putting ribbon through the big shot with a border die is soooo much fun....made the waves out of the solid ribbon that way...saved 1the negative scallops for some upcoming cards too...such a cool way to change up the ribbon useage...wahoo

2012 365 #27 - High school musical

I am getting closer and closer to being done this album...yippee...all the pictures are now in the respective places and there are only about 10 more pages give or take to scrapbook...then on to the Alaska book....want to have this one done so I can work on that one at the convention in March...I use sketch #192 from Creative Scrappers for this page...I know it is super busy, but it just called out for some clutter....kind of like a high school binder...

2012 365 #26 - snowy sketch card

I love sketches...did I say I love sketches?  cuz I truly do...this week's challenge at the Jingle Belles is to use a sketch....I have a really hard time making Christmas cards when the holiday is over, but I am trying my hardest to play along with all the challenges the Jingle Belles put out this year cuz that challenge and the girls there are amazing...this is what I came up with...I used all scraps for this card cuz I am on a use up all my scrap crap kind of kick this year....I sprayed the mistable canvas thing with 4 colours (2 greens and 2 blues)...these things are fun to work with...

2012 365 #24 - animal kingdom

another Disney page done...I made the horrible flower on the bottom out of doilies that I misted and added the I-top brad in the middle...sorry for that horrible viewing torture, but it is made and stuck on the page and not going anywhere...I followed the sketch from Creative Scrappers...

brrrr - stay warm and don't forget your mittens!

Warnings

City of Winnipeg

4:14 AM CST Thursday 19 January 2012

Wind chill warning for

City of Winnipeg continued

Wind chill values between minus 40 and minus 45 over most of Southern Manitoba this morning and overnight.

This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Cold Arctic air combined with westerly winds of 15 to 30 km/h will create wind chill values in the -40 to -45 range this morning. Wind chill values are expected to moderate slightly this afternoon but then fall back into the minus forties over most of Southern Manitoba tonight.

At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.

brrrr...I think tonight may be the perfect night to stay in and make cards...now if only I didn't have to work first....this said with teeth chattering...stay warm everybody!!!

2012 365 #22 - across the border - Shopping our Stash

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use borders...I bordered my borders just to make sure I had enough borders on my card...I also bordered all of my layers just in case there weren't quite enough...I used the sketch from this week's sweet stop challenge for the sketch...really liked this sketch an may just have to crank out a few more cards using it cuz it fit into my card making style just perfectly....so why not come out and play along this week...did I mention that this whole card was out of my scrap bucket?  That leather look paper has been hoarded since the year 2000...only had one sheet of it ever and I just use the itty bittyiest pieces on projects, but alas, I think I have finished it off :(

2012 365 #23 - take a picture, it will last longer

The challenge set out by the Opus Gluei Poohbahs this week is to "take a picture, it will last longer".  I took kind of a skewed approach to this challenge...I was thinking of the way people stare and the phrase that we all used as a defence mechanism around here as kids....so then I tried to come up with pictures for a scrapbook page that would encourage people to stare at you and voila!  Found them...shops in the magic kingdom and the goofy shoes were the perfect images in my mind for this challenge.  I used the sketch from Twisted Sketches and boom, bang, kapowie, one more Disneyworld page down.  Why don't you join us this week and see what you can come up with for this challenge?

2012 365 #21 Happy Birthday

This is the other card that we made at our stamp club...I love the blinginess about it...and I sooo ordered those dies to cut this stuff out...yum
I am entering it in the Sweet Stamping all that glitters challenge cuz there is lots of glitter going on on this card...

2012 365 #20 - That's Amore

This is the card that we tried to make at our stamp club last night, only my stamping and stuff didn't turn out so great, so I brought it home and tweaked it until it became a little more presentable....I am entering it in the following challenges:
just us girls: collage stamping
lets ink it up :anything goes - no digis though
the stamp man - use red

2012 365 #19 - Cool Beans

I bought a new little calendar for my desk, because my workplace has decided that it is too expensive to give us calendars this year...the one I ended up getting was one that started in September, so I pulled out the images from September to December and decided I would use some of them to make cards...I needed a birthday card for one of the guys at work and I don't like making masculine cards all that much because I make girly cards...I think this could go masculine...Inside it says Happy Birthday Cool Beans!

2012 365 #18 - duck duck "goose"

this page was one of our funniest moments in Disneyworld...Emily grabbed Donald's tail feathers and goosed him at the table...he turned around and said "ooohhh hooo hoo, I Schocked" with his raspy lispy sort of way...sooo funny...we giggled about it the rest of the way through breakfast...I used the sketch for this page from Sketchy Thursdays blog...thanks for checking it out!

2012 365 #7 - Shopping our Stash Challenge - all that glitters

This weeks challenge over at http://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/...this bird is the most glittery bird I have ever seen.  It is a Dilly Beans image that I paper pieced with some Sookwang tape and glitter ritzed...then I did the wing with the chunky glitter from Stampin up and added some glitter ritz inbetween the cracks to fill it in a little more...the heart is sparkle fluff...lots of glitter going on here...I also used the sketch from the Just us Girls Challenge...it was a perfect sketch for this image.  Why don't you play along this week?  I am trying to keep using up all my scraps from projects and this card is no exception...this paper is still the leftovers from my scrapbook page from last week....going to get as many projects as I can out of the leftovers....wahoo!

2012 365 #17 - bronze statues

I made this page following the sketch from the Basic Grey blog...there are only 2 pieces of Basic Grey paper sacrificed in the making of this page, so there are no scraps...I actually disliked the paper with the brown and the flowers on it, so I cut them all out and rearranged them on the pink paper....then I used the brown surroundings from the flowers for the ripped background area...

2012 365 #16 - ferry ride

I followed the sketch from Creative Scrappers for this page....I think I have all of the elements of their sketch (at least the ones that would fit)...I have decided that each of my disney pages will have a "hidden mickey" on them...some, of course, not so hidden...I made all 45 of these little flowers out of 2 12x12 sheets of paper...loving my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge...if all I used it for was flowers, I would be a happy camper...yet there is so much more on it...the best part of this page is that there are no scraps left over...yippee!

2012 365 #15 - apple of my eye

the final card out of my pieces of scrap...from that page anyway!

2012 365 #14 - rise and shine

What a productive day today was in the crafting department...I needed a day like that...this is the last of the scraps from my pages today...all used up...not sure what kind of cards these should be?  Maybe birthday?  Who knows?? I got these vintage looking pieces at a crop years ago to make a cookbook and I hated the cookbook so I just held onto them...figured it is time to use them up...going to watch SNL now and then off to bed...maybe get some more stuff done tomorrow...

2012 365 #13 - penny black birthday

more leftovers...I love double sided paper...so many variations for the leftovers when you cut into three brand new sheets of paper...I used the sketch from Unscripted Sketches for this card...and my favorite little Penny Black stamps...plus one of my favorite flowers that I have been saving...but I am using it all this year...honest...there will be room on my shelves by December!

2012 365 #12 - Hot pepper birthday

I have a really hard time with masculine cards and the papers I used for my last scrapbook pages have kind of a masculine feel to them, so I thought I would try and make some birthday cards from the leftovers.  This one follows this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches...still don't know if it is masculine enough or really birthday related for that fact, but what's done is done!

2012 365 #11 - Disney Vacation title page

last one for tonight, I think...I followed the sketch from Frosted Designs for this one...I think this will be the title page for album one...so many pictures that they will easily fill two extra large binder style albums...but I am making some progress and this project will hopefully be done by March, if not sooner....one more down...

2012 365 #13 - Meeting Captain Hook

This is the meeting of Captain Hook...or the imaginary meeting of him...he was superimposed into the picture after it was taken...I thought they did a good job of posing for it considering you couldn't see who was there....and there is another page down...only 800 more pictures to go through and I will be done...at least I have come to the realization that I can't scrapbook them all and some of the pictures are now being placed in the album in divided pages...why didn't I think of that 3 years ago??  Things would be done by now if I did!
