2012 365 #142 - what was I thinking?

"what was I thinking" - this week's Shopping our Stash Challenge - would probably be more relevant this week in real life than card making life- my youngest finally suckered me into getting a puppy...I held my "absolutely not" ground for 9+ years...but finally caved on Friday night and now we have a cute little buddy in our house! As for my card, there are so many "what was I thinking" elements in my craft area that I really didn't know where to begin...I am a sucker for any and all dies for the diecut machines...and I mean all of them....however, the ones on this card had never touched paper, so I decided to try them out...then there was the bucket of prima flowers that I hit up...had to have them (back in 2009 - paid full price too...and just cracked them open tonight)...the rubon was super old too...in fact, so old that most of them were stuck to their protective sheet and just don't work anymore...time to use this stuff up!!!  Let's see what type of stuff you got sucked into getting and what you can create with it...

2012 365 #141 - seasons

This week at the Opus Gluei, we are celebrating the seasons...you can choose one, or like I have done and include them all...it is a pretty open challenge and should be an easy one to participate in, so let's see what you can come up with!!!  I coloured the trees with Tim Holtz markers and then watercoloured them a little with the blending pen...the flowers are left over from a previous project and I thought I could use them up for this one...

2012 365 #140 - use it up!

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use up something that you bought but have not intended on really using...I have lots of stuff like that in my stash, but I think the worst culprit is paper with shiny embossing on it...especially when sock monkeys are involved...I buy it and get it home and then never know what to do with it...this paper was no exception...had to have it...had to...both pieces, with no projects or ideas in mind...just had to have it...but I decided to use it up...yes sir ree bob...used it and the giant flower too...have had those for at least 5 years...of course this card was supposed to face the other direction...but when I went to open it up, I noticed that I put my card on the base upside down cuz i was rushing to get to the party...ooopps...so it is just backwards to me, but hey...it did what it needed to...let's see what you have to show us this week...

2012 365 #139 - my precious

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is so perfectly coined as "My Precious"...we are to use something that we have been hoarding...well, we all know that I hoard my Chatterbox papers...I broke down and cut into two new sheets of it for this card...I also used the last of my tulle ribbon, which really, truly hurt my feelings...but I am over it now!!!  Let's see what you can create with your most "Precious" items that are being hoarded in your crafting areas...if you can pick just one...

2012 365 #138 - ya old buzzard

This weeks challenge at the Opus Gluei is called "Where did you get your suntan??"...you can take it as literal as you like, but show something to do with the summer sun...I chose the desert...dry heat is way better than humidity...in my opinion...we have had the most hot and humid couple of weeks here and it feels stifling for sure...I inked the background of this card with Tim Holtz distress inks and sprayed it with magic potion #9 to try and blend it in a bit, the Copic paper didn't like it too much and started going fuzzy, but it gave it a velvety texture once it was dry...I masked the image first before doing the background and then coloured it with copic markers...kind of a fun experiment with the inks and different types of papers...come on out and show us what you do in the heat...

2012 365 #137 - birthday pleats

This weeks Shopping our Stash Challenge is more than one fold or pleats...I chose pleats in two different ways...underneath I sewed on some pleated paper and adhered it to my card base.  I also used the pleated cupcake liner for my cupcake...I know, I know...it looks like a mushroom, but hey...what can I say???  Let's see what you can come up with this week...

Oh and by the way....we are running a design team call if any of my peeps are interested...the info is here: SHOPPING OUR STASH DESIGN TEAM CALL.  Come and join in the fun...it is a stress free design team....leaving comments and making 1 project a week...and you know them way in advance if you are a keener and want to work ahead...it's a great group of girls to work with!!!

2012 #136 - SOS triple threat

This week over at Shopping our Stash, the challenge is a triple threat....you need to use at least 3 of the same embellishment (3 flowers or 3 ribbons etc.) or three different embellishments or techniques which include the following items:ribbon, flowers, lace, pearls, glimmer mists, punches, rhinestones, doilies, dry embossing or scoring....there are so many options here that there really is no excuse not to play!!!  My card is nothing fabulous this week for sure...spent some time out at the lake and lost track of what day I was on...almost forgot to make my card, so you get to look at a 5 minute special...I apologize in advance for this:
there is a doily, three sets of pearls, lace and ribbon that was sprayed with mists at a crop I went to a while back and decided to use so that it is not in my ribbon bag any more (not even sure why I held on to a scrap like that in the first place???  What is wrong with me???)...play along, will you?
