This is a picture of the house that was used by Tom Hanks in the movie "Sleepless in Seattle"...it is a cute little house just floating in Lake Union...we saw it while on a "Duck" tour....kind of cool....
I used the sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches for this one....seemed to work out well...that's it for today...more to come soon as I have way more pictures to do...8 pages in one day is enough for me...

2011 365 #124 - space needle
This is just a simple page for the great picture that my hubby took of the Space Needle...it almost looks like a postcard...so I felt it could speak for itself...
2011 365 #123 - gum wall
We found this gum wall in a back alley in Seattle just a block or so from the market...we were told about it by a guy at the pizza place we had dinner at the night before, so we knew it existed, but we had no idea where it was...we were looking for the Seattle Aquarium and we cut through the backlane to get to the road and lo and behold, there was the gum was...the most disgusting yet facinating thing that I have ever seen...Emily insisted on putting her gum on the wall to mark her piece of history...I replicated the wall on my page by melting hot glue in blobs and then putting glitter and pearlex in it while it was still hot...burned my fingers a couple of times this morning doing it, but I really like the effect that came of all the burns...
2011 365 #122 - bear hug
This picture of Lauren with the bear is the closest she will ever get to one voluntarily...we saw one on our outing in Juneau and she nearly dropped...Her knees turned to jello and her face turned white...but she was okay with this one at the hotel in Fargo...they had a great time there....
I am entering this page in the sketch challenge from Creative Scrappers #172

2011 365 #121 - king of the world
Emily and I were out on the decks after dinner on our "fun day at sea" and I snapped a couple of "King of the World" pics...you couldn't do a cruise scrapbook without the Titanic pose...of course, she wasn't allowed to hang over the edge of the bow, so this was as close as she was allowed to get...we might have to rent that movie this weekend, now that we are back (and there is no fear of hitting any icebergs)...
2011 365 #120 - our stateroom
Our room on the cruise was soo small that we could reach out from one bunk bed and join hands with the person on the other bunk bed...but it is what we considered home for 7 nights...the steward was soo nice to the girls and put up with all of us coming and going all day long....we had a new towel animal every night after dinner along with our daily news for the next day...if we ever did it again, we would definitely go for a room with a window...too claustrophobic for me....that room was definitely too small for 4 people...
2011 365 #119 - feeling green
The girls were a little sea sick on the second day of the cruise, so of course I had to take some pictures...they were completely green...we happened upon the Green Album two days earlier in Seattle at Starbucks and they begged an pleaded for us to get it for them...who knew the two would be tied together in a scrapbook page in the end???
2011 365 #118 -Alaska title page
We are back from Alaska and a wonderful vacation...beautiful sights and great company...now it is time to put together the scrapbook...here is the title page...our route from Winnipeg to Fargo to Seattle then to Alaska and back the same way....only 2100 pictures developed, so the book shouldn't take too long to make (this is me hysterically laughing)...but they are all in the album at least, so that is one big task done...

SOS Challenge 15 - Sassy, Snarky and LOL - 2011 365 #116
This weeks challenge over at the Shopping our Stash blog is Sassy, Snarky and LOL...these are my favorite type of cards to make...they are so much fun, especially if you have friends who have a sense of humour...I am all about laughing it up in a card instead of the sappy, emotional kind of stuff, so here is my attempt at this challenge:
I used the Tim Holtz crackel on the orange paper to do the crackel effect and then went over it with the burlap distressing ink...not quite crackely enough for what I was going for, but maybe next time? I used my hoarded Chatterbox papers cuz I was in an orange and pink mood and no company does it better than Chatterbox for these kind of combos...the stamp set is from Stampin up...one that I just don't use often enough...and I coloured her with Copic markers...so come on out and sass it up with the girls this week!

Opus Gluei #112 - Everything is coming up roses - 2011 365 #115
Hello to everyone in bloggie land...this is a virtual me as I am on a cruise somewhere off the coast of Alaska right now (hopefully relaxing with my feet up somewhere??)...thank goodness for the scheduled post thing - what amazing things technology can do for us...anyway, this is my card for the Opus Gluei challenge this week - Everything is coming up roses...come and play with us if you have a few minutes...it's a great place to create and the Poobahs come up with some wonderful stuff....I made the rosettes from cut circles and added pearls in the middle...the little rosette ribbon is cream in real life, but looks more whiteish in the picture...I used a new spray mist that I got not too long ago called Fireworks and it seems to spray really nicely...hopefully that keeps happening...don't have too much luck with my spray bottles...they are always clogged up...anyway...thanks for looking and don't forget to join in this week!

Shopping our Stash challenge 14 -red, ribbon and roses - 2011 365 #113
This is my attempt for the red, ribbon and roses challenge over at Shopping our Stash this week. This is my first try at making these spiral flowers. I always envy them on other people's projects and figured this was a good time to give them a whirl. I think they turned out okay?? The stamp is on the card three times, but I am not sure if you can tell from the picture or not? It turns out that Tim Holtz distress inks don't soak in to this kind of Basic Gray paper fyi...it just sits on top as if the paper is coated in wax or something...part of the reason the stamp is not so great...but what can you do? live and learn is what the stamp should say instead of live llaugh love...so if you are not doing anything right now, come on and join us in this week's challenge...you don't need to use all three elements of the challenge...one or two will do...just come on and play!

SOS challenge 13 - You are the weakest link - 2011 365 #111
This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is the Weakest link...the item that sucks you in most even when you say that you are not going to buy anything else. I am the weakest link...for sure...I can't resist new copic marker colours, basic gray paper, bling, ribbon and crocheted things...or bella stamps...plus nestabilities, but I didn't use these this time....but they do appear on many of my creations... this was my first attempt at paper piecing and it wasn't nearly as bad or as difficult as I thought it would be...was kind of worried about the chair and all the little pieces, but it was rather easy...so come on out and join in the fun...I know you have tons of stuff that you said you weren't going to buy just sitting there calling out your name to be used...

opus gluei #111 Oh I Do Love To Be Beside The Seaside - 2011 365 #114
This is my attempt for the sea side challenge over at the Opus Gluei this week...we are going on a cruise to Alaska next week and it is all I can do to stop thinking about it, so when this challenge came by, I had to jump on board (pardon the pun). I cut the fish out of the Life's a Beach cartridge on my Cricut machine (a lonely little machine that just doesn't get used enough....but I am trying to commit to changing that project by project...then I sprayed them with an array of mists...gold and orange, a couple of greens and some blue...I sprayed it all with the Goosebumps spray which is supposed to add texture, but I didn't really notice anything different...the ship was done on the same cartridge as well...so come out and join us with your projects from the sea and let us take a look at what you have done!

SOS challenge 12 - Denim, Dogs and Digis - 2011 365 #110
This is my attempt at denim, digi's and dogs for challenge 12 over at Shopping our Stash...I don't do digi...tried it, but just don't get the hang of it (can't for the life of me figure out how to size those pics so they fit on my card), so I used my Cricut again to cut this out...that is as close to digi as I am going to get...opened up a new cartridge that I just had to have too...three years ago (Forever Young...kind of cool...wishing now that I had looked at it more closely sooner...oh the purses you can make and I used the trusty old Paper Pups for the dog). The denim is a sticky denim paper that I stole from my mom's house - thanks mom...it worked out perfectly...and I sacrificed another piece of the hoarded chatterbox scraps...I will use up all my scraps...I will...now you don't have to use all three items in your project...one or two are fine...I just like it to be as much of a challenge as possible, so I try to see if I can fit in all three....makes it more fun for me...come on down and try it out! Use up that stuff that you have hiding in all the nooks and crannies of your scrap space!

2011 365 #112 - book for my mother in law
My mother in law is building a new house and asked me to come with her to pick out her colour samples, so I made her this book to keep all of her colours and swatches organized...the front is out of this cool vinyl paper that looks like leather...on the inside there are pocket pages after every room heading to keep bits and pieces and there are sticky dots in the envelope in the front so she can stick samples of fabric or carpet in the book on the pages she likes...
I am entering this in the following challenges:
The Crafty Purple Frog - anything but a card
Cooking it up with Katie - something old (the leather paper is from when I first started scrapping) - something new (the paper scraps and thickers) and technique (binding the book - haven't done that in ages and felt it was just time to start using that stuff up)
Crafts and me challenges - anything goes...I just discovered this blog and it looks interesting...so here goes!
The sisterhood of crafters - must be handmade - check!

Shopping Our Stash challenge 11 - violets, violins and vellum - 2011 365 #108
Here is my entry for violets, violins and vellum over at Shopping our Stash...I learned during this challenge why I never use vellum (that stuff is so finicky and no matter what I use, I can still see the adhesive) and that I hate the colour purple...it matches nothing - not even other papers in the same package as it came in...the violin was cut out on my Cricut using the Quarter Notes cartridge (had to open it up for this challenge...yippee...that machine is finally being put to some use)..the flowers really are the same light purple as the background paper, but they almost look brown in the picture?? not sure why... hope you join in with us this week...dig out all of those pieces and bits and get creating!

2011 365 #109 - Luka and me
This page started out as a card for the napkin fold technique...my mom and I were trying out this technique for the forgotten technique challenge at Shopping our Stash last week...she made hers into a card and I threw mine on to a piece of black cardstock and decided to make it into a scrapbook page...I saw the challenge over at Our Creative Corner for a red and aqua colour challenge and decided to finish off the page so that I could submit it...thanks for looking!

Opus Gluei challenge - a picture is worth a thousand words - 2011 365 #107
This is my attempt at being graphic for the Opus Gluei challenge...the object of the game is to make a card with no words on it...to let the image speak for itself..mine is a birthday card...did you get my image? hope so...I am not good at making cards with no words...it just looks like it is missing something....I got the little butterfly as a prize from a contest a while back and thought that it kind of fit in here...I used scrap papers again (trying to consistently use up my scrap stock...have so many half used sheets of paper)...I put stickles on the fairy wings to give them some bling...not sure if you can tell from the picture or not on that...but she looks good in real life...the embossing folder is one that I have never used, but it seems that it matches the background paper to a tee...bonus! Why not join in the fun over at Opus Gluei this week??

SOS challenge 10 - buttons blooms and bananas - 2011 365 #106
This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is buttons, blooms and/or bananas...I chose two out of three for the challenge...I used a scrap from my box for the card base and scrounged around through my buttons to get a good mix of colours and sizes. The flowers are paper and are supposed to look like a cloud...not sure if I achieved the look on the computer, but they are puffy and have iridescent Smooch on them, so they look a little blingy...can't get that blingy look in a picture, but you get the gist of it...I even cracked out the white craft ink..never use that not fast drying stuff ever...but hey, this challenge blog is all about using that kind of stuff up, so I am making my best effort! Come on out and join us for this challenge...it was a fun one to complete!

2011 365 #105 - elegant rose card
this is another card I made for the retirement...one of my other friends needed one to hand in...I made the rose out of the sparkliest black ribbon that I have ever seen...been hoarding it for a while cuz I didn't want to use it up...it was too pretty...but I am trying my hardest to get out of that mindset...plus I had made a whole bunch of giant glue dots that were just calling my name to use...I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Kaboodles Doodles: embossing
Make it Monday: anything goes
Happileigh Scrapping : make your own embellishment
and for those of you playing along on project 365, did you know that today is day 202 of the year? How are your projects adding up? I am at 360 projects completed...my goal is 1000 in 365 days, not quite half way there...must get my butt in gear...how are you doing?
