Altenew All About Layering 2

Hello there blogger friends.  I just completed Altenew's All About Layering 2 class and it was so much fun.  I had a hard time picking my favourite project from this class to present for my educator's class challenge.

I love the simplicity of this card with all the diamond patterns aligning and the hint of gold to make it a little more elegant - a clean and simple card (which for me is a huge challenge).

But in the end I decided that this was my favourite one.  I played with washi tape to cover the whole card base.  That is a new one for me as I usually only use it in simple strips across a card front...I used the peony bouquet stamp set and it was my first time using this one.  I tried out some flowers on the peach and orange shades and just loved the way they turned out.

Altenew Academy Acceptance and All about Layering #1 class

Hello everyone!  I have some great news to share.  I have been accepted into the Altenew Educator Certification Program through the Altenew Stamp company.  I love their layering stamps and I am super excited to share the projects I am making through their classes.
The first class that I am taking is called All About Layering 1.  This class helped me with the alignment of several of my layering flower sets.  There are some great tips and tricks on how to line up some of the flowers which can seem overwhelming at the beginning.  They are so addictive to play with though.  Some of the cards I "copied" from the class are shown here.

This the card I made for one of the challenges in the class using the painted poppy stamp set.  I love the look of the poppies.  They are always so striking to me.

I am also working on staging my cards and my photography skills for them. This is not something I excel at by any means so I am using this course to practice on my set up and lighting.  I have learned quite a bit of information that I have been trying to improve on from my previous blog pictures.

Thanks for looking.  I hope you enjoy my card.

#9 - love is in the air

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use a heart on your project.  I got this background die that is a super weird size and thought I would try it our...it has lots of hearts but was really finicky to use....may be my first and last time with it....but all in all I think it came out okay??  Play along with us, will you?

#8- I need a coffee

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use coffee or tea on your project.  I made several of these cards to use for gift cards from Starbucks.  It is kind of like their logo, yet not really and is sure a nice way to get a gift card.  Play along with us, will you?

#1-7 use the new

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use all of your new items that you received or bought yourself over the holidays - I have to admit that I have done a ton of scrappy shopping at all the sales for Black Friday and Boxing Day and the items are slowly trickling in.  I am really focusing on using all that I purchase and have lots of crafty goals for this year.  Here are a few of the cards I made with some of the new items that are here :)

#116-120 - red white and black all over

This week's challenge Shopping our Stash is to do a project that is red, white and black all over...the perfect challenge for me this time around as most of the paper packs I am using for Christmas this year are following along that colour scheme...here are a few to look at.  Play along with us, will you?

#113-115 let it snow

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use snow on your project.  We are in full winter here and have been since the end of September this year.  It was so early and cold that it forced all of us inside and now we are in code red lock down for the next four weeks minimum.  It appears this crazy 2020 virus loves for cold climate people to be cooped up inside so it can spread like wildfire.  The only bonus to all the stores, restaurants and anything being considered entertainment to be closed and being asked to only socialize with the people who live in your own household for the next month is that there is lots of time to get cards made.  So that is what I have been doing.  Play along with us, will you?

#107- 112 - tic tac toe

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use the above tic-tac-toe board and make a card or project.  I chose the first line down and did twine, neutrals and plaid to make a few Christmas cards.  play along with us, will you?

#106-hot beverages for cold nights

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use something representing a hot beverage.  I just received these dies for a birthday present to myself and thought they would work perfectly for this prompt.  Who doesn't like balloon steam anyway?  Play along with us, will you?

#67-105 - happy fall y'all

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use a fall theme on your cards.  I bought this fall paper pack from echo park and my newish goal in the last couple of years is to use a whole paper pack from start to finish so I don't have to store it.  It is a real challenge - especially if it is a 12x12 paper pack - they make a lot of cards.  This is what I came up with...play along with us, won't you?

#66 - slimline cards

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is one of my favourite trends (and one that I have been doing way before it became popular).  I have been making slimline cards for at least 20 years....that's right, you heard me correctly - 20 years.  They are the first card style I started with and they have never really ended with me.  Now that they are super popular, I have been able to find some dies that go along with the style, so that makes it a little more fun.  Play along with us, will you?

#65 - getting messy

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to get messy.  Use inks or paints or gels or whatever is messy and out of your comfort zone.  I chose to to use multiple inks with a stencil and then use sparkle spray over top of the whole card - as well as some embossing powder.  Play along with us, will you?

#64 - colour challenge

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use at least three of the listed colours on the palette.  I chose to use several of them in my gnome card.  I also added in a teal that is a bit darker than the shade in the palette, mostly because the colours were not accurate on my phone...ooops.  Play along with us, will you?

#59-63 - pile it on

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to pile on the layers and the embellishments.  I made these cards from several scraps of paper that had a bit of water damage on one end but that I couldn't bring myself to ditch because they were from a card kit that I had paid for.  I chopped off the damaged parts and made these cards with the remainders.  Play along with us, will you?

#57-58 - kiss cards (keep it simple sister)

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to keep it simple and do a clean and simple or one layered card.  I chose to do a cute little snoopy card with a die cut of the snoopster.  Play along with us, will you?

#56 - it's black and white

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use black and white on your project.  I chose to do a cover related theme that may only be understood by Canadians lol - our Prime Minister said this lovely phrase in an address to the country at the beginning of the pandemic.  Enjoy lol and play along with us, will you?

#28-30 UFO

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is a UFO challenge - Unfinished Objects.  Normally this is a challenge that is right up my alley as I often have several projects on the go or abandon ideas that aren't going well.  Since I have just moved into my new crafting area in the last few months, I didn't really have any unfinished projects sitting around.  I did however make several of these converse runner type shoes when I made my niece her birthday card, so I put them into some cards.  Play along with us, will you?
