In remembrance of a wonderful woman



On Christmas day we lost one of our beloved members of Shopping our Stash.  Leslie passed unexpectedly and it caught us all by surprise...we are putting together a tribute to this fabulous, creative and witty lady we called the Crooked Stamper....we will miss you greatly Leslie.

At Shopping our Stash we are all picking our favorite project by Leslie and posting it. Before creating this post, I had picked the same card as Carla - only in green, as that was the first time I "met" Leslie...we often had the same snark and sense of humour and there was more than one occasion on this blog that I had to go back and "re-make" my project of the week as we often came up with the same idea - even using the same stamp sets...I guess we were kind of kindred spirits that way, without even meeting in real life. It is hard to write this as her Christmas card arrived at my house this morning...may still change that to my favorite card as I posess it in real life, but that makes it just a little to real for me....we will miss you dearly Leslie...I hope you passed knowing that you were loved here in blogging and crafting world, and from the wonderful and caring words that your family has given us, it is beyond obvious that they loved you dearly as well.  Until we craft again my dear friend....

#65 - let it snow

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is called let it snow - use a snowman or snowflake on your project...I did both with this cased project off of pinterest...I loved the layout of this card and the ink on the one side so I had to copy it off of the internet...not sure where I saw it to give credit but I changed it a bit for my own preferences anyway...play along will you?

This week's challenge at the Opus Gluei is Star light, Star bright...use a star on your project...I am all done my Christmas cards, but need some upcoming birthday cards, so I directed my project that way...play along with us, will you?

#63 - ufo

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use something that is unfinished on your work station...these frames and birds were cut out for a card class that I was teaching this time last year at our local scrapbook store....I flapped them altogether and finished up a quick Christmas card...play along will you?

#62 - No stamping

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to do a project with no stamping at all.  I have been on a huge Christmas card kick this week and these are a few that I have finished this weekend.  This one will be a two week challenge to give those of us who will be celebrating Thanksgiving a bit of a break to get stuff done.  Play along with us, will you?

#61 - thanks a bunch

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is a "thanks" challenge to represent all our American friend's thanksgiving holiday coming up.   I made this card as a thank you for one of the dance teachers at our Studio.  I thought it was such a fun image to play with...join in with us...

#60 - Charlie' angels

This week's challenge at the Opus Gluei is to do something that represents family and this pic of my girls and their best peeps on vacation sums it up great...they aren't truly family but this picture was too fun not to use as they are so close that they could be (really, they are the next door neighbours and we vacation with them so they may as well be)....play along with us, will you?

#59 - Howdy Partner

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to do something with a cowboy theme for a project.  I had these cute little boots from Unity that were dying to have some ink touch them, so here they are.  This plaid paper is material and was really fun to work on...it was a scrap left over from an old project.  Play along with us, will you?

#58 - light my fire

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use an image of something that represents light - sunshine, light bulb, fire etc.  I thought I would try out my new Stamps of Life set that I received in the mail this month...not really old stash, but part of the stash none the less...I must say the inside of the lightbulb is from a different set that I have had for ages and never used, so some of the stash is there in the end.  Play along with us, will you?

#57 - coffee time

 

This week's challenge at the Order of the Opus Gluei is to use a coffee themed item on your project...I recently gave up my favorite coffee at Starbucks as we booked a European cruise and I decided that the money I spend at the coffee shops could be much better used on a vacation, so this card is making me kind of jealous....play along with us, will you?

#56 - go paperless

 

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to go paperless - that is to not use any pattern paper...I seem to have fallen into a pattern of patternless paper lately and that is so sad as I probably have about 100000 pieces of patterned paper..but this one is done with stickers (so I didn't have to cheat) for the border and a retro card front piece...play along, will you?

#55 - spill the beans

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to get your caffeine fix in by making a project with something to do with coffee etc.

This paper was from an old travel set, however it worked perfectly for coffee cups in my opinion...the stamp and die set finally saw ink for the first time and I have had it for a couple of years,,,one of those ones I just "had to have"...play along with us, will you?

#54 - halloween fun

This weeks challenge at the Opus Gluei is a halloween one.  We have had the most gorgeous fall here in our neck of the woods and I hope it can keep up for all the little ghosties and goblins to take advantage of it for trick or treating...we usually have miserable weather by now requiring snow boots and big parkas and it takes the costumes to a whole new level of puffiness...fingers crossed this year will be as nice as today and maybe just light jackets will be necessary...but who knows, it is still almost 2 weeks away and things can change so fast here. I made several of these little candles to light our path in front of our house....now if the winds will just stay calm enough to keep them lit, they could look super cute....

#53 - i can see clearly

 

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use clear acetate to make a window or shaker card on your project...I chose to use the window type aspect with some sticky fun foam and stuck this to the outside of the window and did the window on the inside...play along with us, will you?

#52 - happy birthday

 

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is a birthday challenge. I loved this image and just had to use it up.   all the paper pieces are scraps from other projects that were just laying around and probably should have hit the trash a long time ago but I just can't part even with the smallest of pieces. Play along with us, will you?

#51 - happy thanksgiving

This week the challenge at the Opus Gluei is to do a project that reflects Thanksgiving for us Canadian folk who will be celebrating next weekend...I thought that these projects represented the harvest bounty that will be had at our tables at the two or three dinners we will be having and/or hosting next weekend... if you don't have anything to represent thanks, you can use our official colours of red and white or a maple leaf...play along will you?

#50 - oh ship

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is to use wood on your project...I had this cute little wooden anchor hanging around for a good couple of years, and I thought it would fit perfectly on this card....on the inside of course it is "I forgot your birthday"...play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our stash is to use the word smile or a picture of a smile on your project....I thought this little camera that I have had sitting around for a bit would work perfectly with this challenge...play along with us, will you?

This week's challenge at Shopping our Stash is just out of this world...we are to use something outter space on your project - martians, stars, moons, planets or monsters...you get the idea...I saw a layout for this card on pinterest and decided it would be perfect for this challenge...I thought the sparkly paper looked starry and my next door little guy turned 4 today so it was the perfect challenge for a card for him...play along with us, will you?
