2011 365 #049 - Birthday card

I made this card for one of my daughter's friends...the requirement was that it had to have orange cuz that is her favorite colour...some of the bits and pieces were made in some of my unfinished projects, so I thought I would use up some of those supplies as well...even though the cards were not made as intended, I like the way this one turned out. I am entering it in the following challenges:
paper cutz challenge: anything goes: http://papercutzchallenge.blogspot.com/
papertake weekly : trio tastic - 3 flowers, three patterned papers - http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/2011/03/trio-tastic.html

2011 365 #048 - little leprechauns

I whipped up these little magnets tonight cuz I thought the image was sooo darn cute. It is off of the Simply Charmed cricut cartridge. I did them at 2 3/4 size so they are quite large...then slapped a magnet on the back of each of them and voila...perfect little desk leprechauns to liven the work place up a little....I made 18 of them in all...too much fun with that cartridge...it's becoming addictive....

2011 365 #47 - kit cards

Thank goodness I keep a messy desk and never put away after myself when I craft (I even took a picture before I started to prove what was already there...however, there was tonnes more in the layers underneath to play with as well)! The Opus Gluei challenge this week is to use the stuff off of your desk to make a project. I whipped up 5 cards from nothing but stuff currently on my desk...probably could do 10 more, but I like pulling out my new supplies for the next project, so I ended it at 5...you can join in here if you want to play along: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/

Gotta love the weather here!

This is from the weather network today...nothing like getting every single possible weather condition in a 24-hour period...mmmm looks like some good crafting weather?

A pair of low pressure systems..One in Saskatchewan and one in Montana..Will bring a wide variety of weather to much of southern and Central Manitoba today through tonight. As of early this morning, radar indicates an intensifying area of precipitation moving from Eastern Montana into Southern Manitoba. With a warm front now over Southwest Manitoba pushing in warmer air aloft..Freezing rain is a distinct possibility for many areas of Southern Manitoba this morning. Temperatures are expected to climb just above the freezing mark over most areas this afternoon. However a cold front is forecast to move through Southern Manitoba this afternoon through this evening. General snowfall amounts of 5-10 cm can be expected as this system moves through the area..With up to 15 cm expected east of Lake Winnipeg. The main impact of this system is likely to be felt in the Red River Valley including the City of Winnipeg..Where northwest winds of 50 gusting 80 km/h are expected tonight. This in combination with the fresh snowfall should result in blizzard conditions..With near-zero visibility in snow and blowing snow..Over the Red River Valley including the City of Winnipeg beginning this evening and continuing for much of the night. Temperatures are expected to plummet tonight from a relatively balmy +1 late this afternoon to -18 by Saturday morning..With wind chill values dropping back to the minus thirties. Conditions are expected to improve by Saturday morning, although temperatures will remain well below normal.

2011 365 #045 - Take care of yourself

This is one of my Lili of the Valley stamps that arrived yesterday (I bought myself (I mean my husband bought me) for Valentine's Day...I got 5 of them and they are all super cute...too bad I can't buy them in Canada though. I am entering this card in the monthly card challenge at our local scrapbook store in Stonewall. I am also entering it in the following challenges:

2011 365 #044 - spring is here

So I was absolutely elated when I went to the mailbox on my way home from work and saw my prize from the wonderful Opus Gluei gals waiting for me. I couldn't wait to get home and open it (neither could my oldest daughter who ripped that packing tape off as fast as her little fingers could move)! Inside were some super fun items to play with...some stamps, glitter, a dazzle ink pad (which I have wanted to try for sooo long, but couldn't bring myself to pay Michael's prices for) and a really pretty smelling lip balm (which with all this super cold weather was probably more exciting to my chapped lips than the stamps were to my super excited brain!)
I couldn't wait to make something with it all, so I whipped up this card with one of the stamps from the set. I am going to enter it in the Opus Gluei challenge (show us some "New" tricks) because I think it qualifies on many levels: new stamps - the image is covered in the new dazzle ink (but you can't tell by this picture too much) and a new card technique. You can find it here: http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/ . I have never done a diamond card before, but I stumbled across the instructions here: http://www.making-birthday-cards.com/diamond-fold-card.html - it is super simple and I was already using up my scraps from another card...worked out perfectly in all aspects!
So much fun when there is new stuff to play with! Thank you Jana and Rosemary!

2011 365 #040 - magical day

I did this card using the sketch from Card Patterns #104: http://cardpatterns.blogspot.com/. I have had these Tim Holtz plastic things for a while and thought what better time to use them than now? What am I holding on to them for? I used one of the many (or should I say MANY??) Bella stamps that I bought at the Scrapyard Garage sale a couple of weekends ago. I colored her in with the copics and stuck her to the plastic pieces with some crystal effects glue stuff.
I am also entering it in the Crafty Creations Challenge blog: feminine birthday with green and blue: http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

WOYWW 91

Okay, so this isn't soo much my workspace...more of a holding zone, but it is so neat and organized right now, that I just had to show it off before it starts to look like the rest of my room. My hubby got me this cabinet a few years ago for Valentine's day, and it my most favorite piece of furniture in the house...so many little spaces for pretty things....I keep my copics on top in the spinny container from Michael's crafts...and some of my completed cards are in the boxes on the side and on display. My daughter helped me sort out all my brand type paper and used the labeller to organize it for me. All of the drawers have the little dishes in them to keep the brads, eyelets etc separated...just love this baby. My inks, some tool, etc. are in the bigger bottom drawers...and now that I finally got the Christmas tree down, I should not be feeling guilty hiding out making some cards and pages...yippee...for more desks, follow this link: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ ...thanks for looking!

2011 365 #037 - hang in there

I thought this card turned our rather cute. I colored everything in with my copic markers and some paper piecing. I am going to enter it in the following challenges:

Bugaboo stamps catch the bug challenge: green with envy and a sketch: http://catchthebugblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/green-with-envy.html - so my sketch following skills were a little sketchy on this one, but the idea is there - tried to use my clothes line at the button and ribbon area with the middle of the sketch being the clothes...hope it qualifies close enough....
I am also using this card for the challenge at the Scrap Yard for our monthly card contest....the stamp I used is one of the ones required for the challenge...thanks for looking!

2011 365 #036 FWYS

WOYWW - posted on Thursday...ooops

The kids had a holiday on Monday (and I used a vacation day), so in my mind it is still technically Wednesday...even if it is not...have a bit of a mess going on here. I decided to issue myself a "finish what you have started" challenge. I have hosted and been to several card exchange nights and different classes, where I have grabbed the kit and said, "I will just finish this one at home". Of course, I never, ever do. I have 4 buckets of kits and started cards that I just couldn't be bothered to put together...not for any other reason than when I go into that room I always want to start something new instead of pulling out something old...hmmm...I have got 5 Christmas cards finished and packaged, with envelopes and ready to go...that is my new thing this year too... I am putting all of my finished cards in clear envelopes with their respective envelope inside. I am stamping the inside verse on a scrap piece of paper and dropping it in the back of the envelope. Sort of like I would be putting them up for sale. This way they get less squished in the box and I can tell exactly what is inside when the time for them is needed. I am sure liking this system of keeping them organized. I am also being forced to finish the inside at the same time...I have hundreds of blank cards cuz the fronts were so pretty, but I didn't finish the insides...boy does that suck in a rush when you need cards on the way out the door and you have to run around searching for the perfect inside verse!...no more....join in the challenge and finish something you have started too...this will be part of my 365 (with the goal being 1000 paper items completed this year.

2011 365 #034 -plaid birthday greetings

This one is not my favorite card, that is for sure, but my 9 year old loves it....too many strong colours for me...trying to use up scraps and just trying too hard on this one I guess...iykwim?
I will still enter it in the following challenges though:
One stop Craft challenge: use cake somewhere on your card: http://onestopcraftchallenge.blogspot.com/
I have also decided to issue myself another challenge (which might help out my 1000 paper items) - a finish what you have started challenge...I found 2 boxes of started projects when cleaning up for the garage sale out at the Scrap Yard this weekend. I have decided that I will finish all of the cards in those boxes as part of my 365 challenge...got started yesterday and have 5 cards done already...will have to post them when the camera battery is charged...wahoo...join in the fun, it is not too late!

2011 365 #033 - never travel without my diary

I whipped this card up for the Opus Gluei Challenge: book theme - http://opus-gluei.blogspot.com/ . I also used the sketch from Twisted Sketches - http://www.twistedsketches.com/(the twist was distressing, so I did 3 kinds....around the checker paper with the Distress it tool (may slowly become a fan), around the edges with black ink and by smudging orange in different areas of the solid papers.
This one was a fun and simple one...I also got to use two stamps that I have had for years and never figured out what to do with. Another goal for the year on its way!!! I will use all of those stamps....or a good majority of them, anyway. It is not normal for me to stamp with coloured ink, but I think the orange girl in the background makes this card??? what about you?
